As a firm prominent in the field of employment law with a diverse range of clients, including larger corporations, small and medium business owners and local government, we have a great opportunity for a technically skilled and commercially astute Lawyer to join our team.

You will participate in the full range of employment law issues including:

·      General Protections Applications

·      Unfair Dismissal Claims

·      Workplace Investigations

·      Sexual Harassment and Discriminations matters

·      Regulatory and compliance and disciplinary proceedings

·      Underpayment Claims

·      Negotiation and lodgments of Enterprise Agreements

·      Drafting Policies and Procedures, and

·      Day to day employment law advice focused primarily on servicing a diverse range of employers

 

About you

You should have at least 2-3 years of successful experience as an Employment Lawyer and the qualities required to succeed including:

  • Client focus with practical and commercial solutions orientation
  • Strong relationship skills
  • Business acumen with an interest and focus on the business of law including drive for financial and non-financial success
  • Comfortable in both collaborative and autonomous roles
  • Work closely with business development professionals to assist client’s solve business critical issues and develop ongoing strategies
  • Technical competence across the broader suite of employment law and IR business issues

 

 

What you’ll do day to day:

  • Provide employment-related legal advice and assistance
  • Have face to face contact and direct carriage of your employment related matters including conducting negotiations and communications on behalf and with clients
  • Ensure files are managed appropriately and professionally
  • Draft legal submissions and documentation for applications and appeals
  • Appear as an advocate in the relevant courts and tribunals
  • Ensure timely and proactive contact with clients
  • Ensure budgetary requirements are met from month to month
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of legislative changes and industry initiatives
  • Educate clients and stakeholders on employment law issues and the impacts upon their business.
