Skill shortages in the hospitality sector are causing more frustration amongst Australian employers as visa regulation changes come into effect. While employers struggle to find Australian employees with the right qualifications that are willing to relocate to a regional area, the Government continues to make things harder for them. To combat these struggles regional employers are working to implement training courses for Australians in regional areas, whereby they can acquire the culinary and service skills needed to fill such positions as required by the industry. However this is a task that will take time to develop and there is still a definite demand for foreign skills in the hospitality industry, which isn’t going away anytime soon, thus causing an evident skills gap in Australia.
