Chinese tourists in Australia are scrambling to extend their visas, fearing they could become infected with coronavirus if they return home. We can help you to extend your visa until the coronavirus is under control.
In fact, many Australian visas have a ‘No Further Stay’ (8503) condition which prohibits a visa applicant from applying to other temporary/permanent visas while staying in Australia unless otherwise, they are protection visas or a specific temporary visa.
There are multiple types of conditions
An 8503 condition is usually imposed on visitor visas, training and research visa and work and holiday visa. With the numbers of those affected by the novel Coronavirus rising, those who want to stay in Australia for a more extended period could request a waiver in the condition.
Did you know you may request a Waiver?
Visa holders can request to waive the condition if a significant change has occurred in your situation while you are holding this visa however this change must be out of your control, and you are unable to prevent it or stop it.
If the condition is waived
If a ‘No Further Stay’ condition is waived, you are able to apply for another visa without having to leave Australia.
If the condition is not waived:
You will not be able to apply for another substantive visa (expect a temporary visa of a particular kind) while you are in Australia. The Australian Government has announced that as of 1 February 2020, all travellers arriving from any part of mainland China, regardless of nationality, will be subject to enhanced border control measures to ensure the health, safety and well-being of the Australian community.
