Changes to the Australian Recognised Trade Certificate (ARTC) Program trades list

The list of trades the Australian Recognised Trade Certificate (ARTC) program offers recognition in has been reduced from 49 to 14, effective 21 October 2013.

Applications are now only available in the trades below.

  • Aircraft Maintenance Engineer (Avionics)
  • Aircraft Maintenance Engineer (Mechanical)
  • Aircraft Maintenance Engineer (Structures)
  • Boilermaker
  • Boilermaker/Welder
  • Diesel Fitter
  • Electrical Fitter
  • Electrical Fitter (Instruments)
  • Electrical Mechanic
  • Fitter
  • Motor Mechanic*
  • Refrigeration Mechanic (Electrical)
  • Refrigeration Mechanic (Engineering)
  • Welder (First Class)
  • *Includes heavy vehicle and light vehicle motor mechanic

The purpose of this change is to remove trades which have largely become outdated and under-utilised.

Applications postmarked 21 October 2013 or later in ARTC trades that are no longer recognised will be returned unprocessed.

Applicants for trades that are no longer recognised through the ARTC may wish to approach a registered training organisation (RTO) to obtain formal recognition of their skills.
