As many new Australians prepared to receive their Australian citizenship on the mainland of Australia with their closest friends and family looking on, Terry Barrell pledged his Australian citizenship at -2.7OC in Antarctica, surrounded by penguins and his fellow employees. Mr Barrell works down at Davis Station, an Australian owned part of Antarctica, where he journeyed to in November before he could arrange to have his citizenship ceremony. Instead he received an icy ceremony on a perfectly clear day in the most southern land mass in the world, where he could celebrate with all his black and white friends. We’re sure it was a day he will never forget, congratulations!
